Pigs Eating Bananas, RFQ, and DAG
Hey, it’s him again, and thank the universe for favoring him so much
After a few years of coding, he felt bored: his job lacked novelty and consisted entirely of repetitive tasks. So he gave himself two years to search for something he could truly dedicate himself to. He raised pigs, grew bananas, intending to launch a “Banana-fed Pig” brand to compete with HAG. However, the banana trees bore no fruit, and the pigs fell sick
Knowing that his banana farming failed, his former boss messaged him saying that if he was looking for a job, he should come work with him. The job did not even have a job description. He joined, not only because he respected the boss, but also because he was in need. From raising pigs, he became a generalist, working on whatever needed attention in the company
Now, he is building an RFQ system and a DAG (Directed Acyclic Graph) application to process high-frequency computations, ensuring that every decision is auditable. In trading, answering the question “why did you do what you did” is more important than the decision itself
He is back to loving programming: even if live pig prices rise to 69k/kg, he will still code. It is another phrase he often tells himself: sometimes you only need to lift a ordinary leaf to see countless new and beautiful things, no need to search far and wide
