The Truth
Hey, it’s him again, and he is strange: he is Catholic, but he likes Buddhist philosophy. By day he listens to Xuan Kong Fei Xing, Taoism, and the I Ching; at night he listens to quantum physics, string theory, and the history of the universe
Perhaps, he is not searching for a religion, he is searching for the truth
Catholicism attracts him with love, mercy, and the connection between humanity and God. He likes Buddhist philosophy because it speaks much of suffering, and of how to observe one’s own mind
By day he listens to Xuan Kong Fei Xing and the I Ching out of curiosity about the laws governing heaven and earth. At night he listens to quantum physics, string theory, and the history of the universe because he wants to know what this world is woven from
It sounds chaotic, but upon reflection, it is quite consistent. Because all of them are trying to answer a few identical questions: Who are we? What is this world? And why does everything operate the way it does?
And perhaps God is not at all annoyed that he reads Buddhism. Perhaps the Buddha does not mind either that he reads physics. Who knows, maybe they are all just different doors leading to the same truth, as long as he maintains humility before the things he does not yet know
Because the more he learns, the more he realizes the greatest thing in the universe is not knowledge, but its mystery
And who knows, maybe the most interesting thing in life is not finding the final answer, but being able to wander among such beautiful questions, day after day
